copper picture hangers

Having lived in mostly rented homes over the years I’ve had to come up with different ways to display my prints and artwork on walls. Sometimes I can get away with hanging heavy frames using screws and wall plugs (I’m a pro at Polyfilling holes) and sometimes only a little nail hole will do. I’ve always been a fan of using trouser hangers to display prints, rather than just white tac / Washi tape them to the walls. Don’t get me wrong though, I LOVE a good Washi tape print display!

Here’s a really simple DIY to spruce up the standard chrome / wood trouser hanger.

You will need…

Trouser hangers (I got mine from Amazon, but IKEA do some nice cheap ones too)

Masking tape / Washi tape

Scissors

Copper spray paint (other colours would be fun too!)

Newspaper / similar protection for your work surface

Using the masking tape, cover every bit of the wooden hanger. To get the tape right around the metal, use the points of your scissors to push the tape in so the wood is completely covered.

Then all that’s left to do is spray! Make sure you do it in a well ventilated and well covered area so you don’t get any paint where you don’t want it! Once dry, simply clamp your print / picture into the hanger and then up it goes onto the wall.
